CHAPTER 2 - Setting Margins, Setting Boundaries

T o paraphrase William Shakespeare, "All the world is a page (stage) and how you write (act) is how you regard yourself in the world." The space you take up on a page corresponds to how you see yourself occupying your life. For example, if your writing goes from one edge to the other of the page (without leaving margins), you probably have no boundaries and feel you must fill every waking moment. If there are wide margins on the page, you probably feel isolated from the world around you.

According to the noted graphologist Beverly East, "The manner in which a man fills a blank page is a reflection of how he perceives himself functioning in his environment." In essence, it shows where you place the boundaries of how you interact with people, show respect, and set limits or reject limits.
